End-user Product Specification

An end-user product specification was made by conducting an extensive survey among relevant actors in the fish farming industry in Europe and also other relevant targets like Chile.

The end-user survey was conducted to establish a set of requirements for the FishScan biomass estimator system being developed. Focus of the end-user survey and specification was on issues covering accuracy of estimation, capacity, degree of automation, power supply, ease of use, cost, durability, environmental and user safety, and compatibility with established production planning routines. Teknologisk Institutt was in charge of this activity.

In-person and phone interviews were held with selected industry actors about fish biomass estimation, resulting in development of an end-user product specification. Professional key aquaculture representatives participated with their extensive knowledge. A set of definitions was made in order to make sure all participants had the common understanding of key issues in the survey.
